Welcome to New Lebanon Community Church

Come join us for Awana!

Join us any Wednesday evening beginning at 5:55 until 7:35 to see what all the fun is about!!

The Gospel is essential to the ministry teaching of Awana.
Awana is an international, inter-denominational ministry to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Children are divided into four clubs:  (Preschool) Cubbies, (K-2) Sparks and (3-6) T&T; (7&8) Trek.

Each evening is divided into three segments - Handbook time, game time and chapel time.
Clubbers need to study God's word at home and come prepared to recite learned scriptures to their leaders.
This happens during handbook time. Awana games are unique to Awana and are played on the Awana game circle.
Chapel time is called Council Time and it occurs in a large group setting where Bible truths are taught and the salvation message is given on a regular basis.

Awana - Cubbies is for those Clubbers who will be attending Kindergarten in two years. The Cubbie ministry repeats itself every other year so to prevent repeated material you will need to judge when the timing is correct for your son or daughter.
The Awana club for preschoolers is built on two premises:

• Young children can and should receive spiritual training.

• Home is the primary place for spiritual training.

Our preschool program meets these needs through …Fun – and lots of it!

Awana is fun with a purpose – to reach and train kids for Jesus Christ. Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities transform our preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

 Cubbies Curriculum Outline
The Cubbies curriculum features two handbooks written in a fun, storybook style that appeals to preschoolers. The handbooks contain 24 Bear Hug sections along with six optional special-day sections. Each section combines basic Scripture memory with parent-child activities to help a child grasp a simple biblical truth. Two extra-credit handbooks containing additional memory verses and character-building activities are also available.

Before starting a handbook, newcomers to Cubbies are taken through an introductory brochure that gives parents and children a brief overview of the program and presents God’s plan of salvation at a preschooler’s level.

In addition, all memory verses are presented at a level appropriate for 3- and 4-year-olds. For example, John 3:16 reads: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son …

Awana - Sparks is for those clubbers in Kindergarten, First and Second grades.
Sparks' material is being upgraded and each new book will have a cd included to help the clubber listen to their scriptures and lessons.
The Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade builds on the material taught in our preschool clubs. The curriculum takes kids a step deeper into God's Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as Savior while in Sparks.

Immersing Kids in God's Word
The Sparks program is firmly grounded in Scripture. The three handbooks feature:Basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible
A clear and consistent presentation of the gospel message
An increased emphasis on Scripture memory over our preschool materials. In three years, a child will learn and review over 65 verses, many of which cover salvation and key Christian doctrine.
Sparks is currently being revised. New handbooks will have the same trusted features, along with:

Three new ranks: HangGlider, WingRunner and SkyStormer
An aviation theme
A chronological walk through Scripture
Details about Bible characters told in captivating biographies
A handbook CD with dramatic biography readings, memory verses and more
Three new characters – Joel, Chloe and Jacob – to join Sparky
These updates will take place over the next three years, beginning with HangGlider in 2008.

Fun Learning = Results
Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for churched and unchurched kids alike. Club meetings are divided into three segments:

Bible teaching, worship, award presentations and the gospel message
Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons
Age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle
Along the way, Sparky, the friendly firefly, and his three friends have many exciting adventures. Sparky encourages kids to learn verses and complete assignments throughout the three handbooks.

Sparks curriculum is comprised of three handbooks. Each handbook communicates spiritual truths through memory verse drills, crafts, activities and review of key doctrine, Bible facts and verses. The current handbooks follow a nature motif, whereas the new handbooks follow a flight theme. Between now and 2010, all handbooks and corresponding club materials will be updated to fit this new theme and include exciting new features.

The first new handbook, arriving in 2008, begins a chronological journey through the Bible, starting with Genesis and ending with Joshua. The current handbooks (for years two and three) continue to cover the themes “Jesus in the present” and “Jesus in the future.”

Before working in any of the new handbooks, all newcomers to Sparks will complete an entrance booklet — Flight3:16 — that centers on the gospel message of John 3:16.

Awana -  T&T (stands for Truth & Training) is for boys and girls in third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Handbook time is divided grades splitting 5 ath6 from 3 and 4 but games and chapel are mixed grades.
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through sixth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow — today.

Exciting features to get kids excited about God’s Word
T&T is equipped with a variety of dynamic tools to accomplish this mission:

Four handbooks of increasing difficulty which teach children that life’s ultimate adventure is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
A cast of fun characters that boys and girls learn from and follow on interesting journeys in the handbooks
Weekly meetings that expose children to the gospel message, Scripture memory, Bible study, awards, team-oriented games and gut-busting fun
A Bible-centered curriculum that helps kids build a firm foundation for their faith, hide God’s Word in their heart and apply the truths of Scripture to their daily lives
Interactive CDs that use exciting high-tech games to teach and reinforce key biblical truths
Evangelism and discipleship go hand in hand in our third- through sixth-grade program. By the time a child has completed T&T, he will have:

Learned and reviewed approximately 310 verses
Studied dozens of passages from the Old and New Testament
Regularly heard and read the gospel message
Discovered the Bible’s response to questions like “How does God want me to live my life?” and memorized verses to back up these answers
